Clinical
Skin Care . . . Is there really a difference?
Frequently we are asked “Is
there really a difference between salon and clinical skin care?” The
answer is “Yes!”. There is nothing more relaxing and soothing
than treating yourself to a salon facial. But clinical skin care is
all about preventing and correcting skin problems such as sun damage,
hyperpigmentation (dark spots), aging skin and acne. An aesthetician
working under the supervision of a physician is able to perform
aggressive treatments using methods and products not allowed to be
used in a salon.
Products sold over the
counter or in a salon can be sold to anyone without any screening or
monitoring. Therefore, the levels of the active ingredients must be
low enough to avoid the possibility of irritation. The result is a
level so low that is not very effective. Clinical skin care products
can use higher levels because the patient is screened, monitored and
the aesthetician is supervised by the doctor. The patient has the
advantage of access to the physician if he or she needs a prescription
such as Retin-A or an acne medication.
Please feel free to call our
office to speak to Sharon, our aesthetician, if you have any
questions. We offer complimentary consultations at which she will
access your skin and make recommendations.
Aesthetic
& Plastic Surgery offers a variety of state-of-the-art skin care
treatments and anti-aging programs. A licensed aesthetician performs
medically supervised treatments that can diminish fine lines, fade
discolorations and promote healthier, more youthful skin. We also have
a program for treating adult acne.
We offer complimentary skin care consultations to evaluate the skin
and make recommendations.
Vitalize Peel
The Vitalize Peel is a unique break-through formulation using a blend
of peeling acids that provide a safe, medical peel with minimal “down
time”. You may have seen this procedure featured on “Extreme
Makeovers”. Even after one peel you will notice improvement in your
skin’s texture and tone, lessening of fine lines, and a healthier more
youthful appearance. The Vitalize Peel is safe and effective for all
skin types.

Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is a safe, rejuvenating process using exfoliating
crystals to treat maturing skin, acne, and discolorations of the skin.
When used in conjunction with a clinical home maintenance program,
results can be dramatic.
Acid Peels
An acid peel is a non-invasive, superficial chemical peel that removes
the microthin top layer of skin. This helps to accelerate the cellular
turnover that dramatically slows down as we age. It can be very
effective to diminish fine lines, discolorations and roughness that
occur with the aging process as well as the treatment of adult acne.
